Newsflash⚡ writes fictional stories inspired by global headlines. Welcome back to another Saturday edition.
Today’s poem is inspired by that definitively English moment - when the seasons sneak back up on us, and we realise with a strange kind of relief that it’s back to being light at six o’clock again.
Longer days are on their way, people!
Keep on weekend-ing,
Tom
the days are back to feeling like the right time again
17:49 will always be my evening
Footsteps with that gentle scrape of damp concrete
-tsch -tsch -tsch
shuffling past
just walking the dog
do walk the dog
get to know pavements
get to know streetlight
not in any unusual way but in the
way it has never been done before
which is your way
unusual though it feels,
days and time
will line back up

Green is beginning to tinge the hedgerows again. Spring is sprunging.
After the shortest day folk used to say!
As the day lengthens,
The cauld strengthens!
